KCK Award - About Us

Rajasthan Patrika Group (estd. 1956) started yearly the KC Kulish International Award for Excellence in Journalism, 2007. This annual award commemorates high ideals of Sh Karpoor Chandra Kulish, the founder of the group by recognizing outstanding efforts of journalists working in newspapers globally towards promoting the rights and freedom of the people for better quality of life.

About - Sh Karpoor Chandra Kulish Indelible imprints In the year 1956, a visionary journalist Sh Karpoor Chandra 'Kulish' dared to dream of a newspaper free from influences and interests, totally credible and wedded to truth and set about making it a reality. His dream and ideals inspired him to launch Rajasthan Patrika with a borrowed capital of Rs 500 (about 7 US dollars now). The phenomenal growth from virtual scratch was possible only because of his grit and determination. People of Rajasthan responded generously to his brand of journalism based on truth, courage and free speech. Sh 'Kulish' never swerved from the path of fairness and honesty. Professional excellence went hand in hand with the coverage of news and focus on public interest and welfare. He set high standards and healthy traditions for his successors to imbibe and follow. Kulish ji was a voracious reader and versatile writer. His works have received a lot of critical acclaim. Some of his well known works are: ‘Saat Sainkda’ - poetic composition | ‘Amerika Ek Vihangam Drishti’ | ‘Mein Dekhta Chala Gaya’ | ‘DharaPravah’ - Biography | ‘Polampol’- segment on current affairs | ‘Vedas as Science’ | ’Ved-Vidya Praveshika’ | ‘Shabd Vedas’ – compilation of the four Samhitas. Though he was a great journalist, Kulish ji was also a spiritualist at heart. He wanted to dedicate himself to the in-depth study of the Vedas. Hence, he retired as the editor of Rajasthan Patrika at the age of 60 on March 20, 1986.
About Award
This annual award commemorates high ideals of Sh Karpoor Chandra Kulish, the founder of the group, by recognizing outstanding efforts of the team of journalists working in daily newspapers globally towards promoting peoples rights and freedom for betterment in the quality of their life. The award recognizes best of works in Print Media and honors the winner with a cash prize of US$ 11000 ,medal and certificate. 10 merit awardees will be facilitated with a medal and certificate.
